Transfer 5: Goldens Galore

Transfer 5: Goldens Galore
Sister Marlowe...Week# 27
June 13, 2017

Yoooooooooo!
Alright so this might be the worst email ever!!! I left my planner at home and this past week feels like a year long... But, hence the subject of this email, we just started a new transfer yesterday! Anddddd.............. transfer news drum roll....................................... I am staying in Mooroolbark! Again haha. Yay! My daughter Sis Liutai has been taken from me and transferred to Footscray! An area in Heidleburg zone (the City zone covering all of Melbourne proper) and she is in the ghetttto hahaha. I miss her. Sister Ete will be staying with me for her last 5 days in Melbies, and then I'll be getting a new golden tomorrow! I'm so nervous to meet her! So far I've had American, Taiwanese, Samoan, and Tongan companions, so I'm guessing she'll be Indian or maybe south American hahahahha. Jokes, I have no idea!
Ummmm I'm trying to remember what even happened this week! I have never been so tired in my life. Ah one thing that was so awesome: our ward mission leader lives two house away from us, and his family has a Japanese student living with them while he's studying English in Melbourne! We were over for dinner the other night, and I had my Book of Mormon in front of me, and he just started asking me all about it and looking through the pictures and he wanted one in Japanese! Sooo Cool. his Name is Taisei. We got him a copy in Japanese and I'm sooooo excited to bring it to him!
Besides that... LISA CAME TO CHURCH! #miracles and her daughter came with her, and wants to be baptized!!! Wow wow wow. I am so excited for them!! I wish I could remember more...
Overall I think I am learning so much and I have made at least a few improvements from the day I got here 6 months ago.. (I hope) But one thing that is getting worse is my memory. WOW. I don't know if it's just the fact that I have so much I'm supposed to remember all the time, but I have the worst memory ever. If you ask either of my past two companions, I lose EVERYTHING!!! They can always tell by m face if I'm trying to remember where something is at.. "What did you lose this time?" So sad. But alas, the work moves on. I have come to the conclusion that Heavenly Father just really wants me to be studying 12 weeks.. This will be my 4th time starting the 12 week program. Maybe one day I will get it all figured out!  Until then, I will just keep on praying and praying. I'm learning to just trust my Heavenly Father! I don't know why a lot of things happen, but there must be some kind of reason, so I just remind myself to give my worries to God and trust in his plans :) He's a pretty good person to invest our trust in.

I LOVE YOU ALL! Thank you for your support, thoughts, prayers, and influence. I pray for you!!!

6 MONTHS EY!

6 MONTHS EY!
Sister Marlowe...Week #26
June 6, 2017

What a week!
I was pretty sick on Wednesday, so that was no fun at all but the most wonderful couple ever in our ward came over with some dinner! They are the best.
Thursday we got to visit Lisa, the one we met earlier last week who hasn't been active in years! She is awesome and we were able to just get to know her better and kind of make a plan of how she can get back into the gospel again.. She's got a rough road to take, but we're excited for her! We talk to her everyday and she always just tells us "Oh my lovely girls I have just been so much happier since you came into my life". She's had a few experiences in the past week, and I know that it is her Heavenly Father letting her know that she's doing the right thing! Please pray for Lisa.
We also went to ward council Thursday. Ward council is awesome! I always feel a bit funny going to ward council though, because we're all at least 10 years younger than the next youngest person there. But we have the best ward everrrrr.
Friday, we went to a funeral for the daughter of one of our ward members... This ward has had 3 adult children die in their 30's... Drugs are thee worst. It is so heart breaking to see the affects that they have in breaking up and destroying families. Anyways, off my soap box.
Saturday was a great day! Since we have three of us, we can go on splits with just one member, so we got to visit quite a few people and it was a great day!
Sunday I think was one of the best fast-and-testimony meetings I have ever been in. WOW. I LOVE THIS WARD SO MUCH. THEY ARE THE BEST. Sunday night we had a cottage evening with a few members and less-active-ish people. We're going to start having them every month, just a bunch of people getting together to have a giant family home evening type thing and it will be so awesome!! I'm hoping and guessing that I'll be sticking around here for a while longer. Good thing too, Mooroolbark is the boooooomb.com. :)
Monday and Tuesday were great, visited a few people in the ward who are struggling and just doing our best to lift wherever we can! I love it :)
And Today June 7, is my 6 month mark of being a missionary!! Wow wow wow. Time goes too fast. So to celebrate, we got Dr. Pepper for breakfast and took a bazillion photos, and I think my companions were even more excited than I was, but I love them to death hahahaha. They are the BESTTTTTT!!!

I love you alll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HEY KIDS

Hey Kids
Sister Marlowe...Week #25
May 31, 2017

What a week!
Sorry for the late email this week, our mission has now converted our preparation day to Wednesday instead of Monday every week!
So first off, I want to start off by saying that we found JIM this week! He is awesome. Jim was looking into the church a few years ago, and we called him last week, paid him a visit, and he wants to start learning again! He is wonderful. We went to visit him, and long story short, he pretty much ended up sharing his testimony with us! He told us that 34 years ago, his life wasn't where he wanted it to be, and he realized that he needed Jesus Christ in his life. Since then, he has been reading and studying and praying and working to have Jesus Christ become a bigger part of his life. Soooo how excited do you think we were to share with him that Christ's own church has been restored to the earth again???? Yessssss.

Wednesday we had GOLDEN REVIEW! And Sister Liutai smaaaaashed. It was so great. It is so awesome to see the enthusiasm and excitement that goldens (new missionaries) have! I also started learning how to pray in Samoan... #companionshipunity

Thursday, we popped by the house of a new contact we met last week tracting, and talked to JUSTIN! He told us that he has never been very religious, but he has been wanting to learn a lot more! We met his little 6 year old daughter, and he said she asks him almost daily about if there is a God and he hasn't been sure what to teach her! He wants to bring her to church

Friday we went on a second exchange in Dandenong and it was soooo fun! Ah Sister Daroy (our STL [sister training leader]) is the best ever and I think when she goes home I'm going to just die. LOVE HER TO DEATH.

Saturday was gunnnnn ey! We met a really cool guy named Dylan who is soooo awesome and I am just praying non-stop that we'll be able to see him again!! My compies spent all of Saturday night going back and forth pretending to be American and making up fake conversations in "American" accents.... Lolllls.

Sunday was sooooo goood! We had a guy come to our ward that the elders had met in their area and he is awesomeeeeee. His name is Matthew, he is great! He came with us to a baptism after church and he is really wanting to get baptized! Sadly, he might be moving into the city, so we might have to pass him to the missionaries there.... But until then.. We get to teach Matthew!

Monday was amazing. We went to visit a lady in our ward who hasn't been active in a few months since her son died. Wowwie! I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have of eternal families! It's so hard to think about losing loved ones without knowing that I'll see them again. #ETERNALLYGRATEFUL

Tuesday was a day of miracles!! We had planned for a few people to visit and a few streets to tract on..... and then our appointment cancelled. and then it started pouring rain. and it was like 9 degrees outside (celsius tho don't worry). So we decided hmm let's maybe not tract because Sis. Liutai doesn't have a coat! We made a plan to just stay in the area and visit different members from our ward list that we hadn't met before so we just picked a name on our list, and showed up. No one was home... So we decided to just knock on 5 or six doors nearby. Got about 5 houses away and it started pouring again! So we ran back to the car which was parked in front of Lisa's house, aaaaaaand I heard someone yellling "Sisters Sisters!" I look up and this man was standing on the porch! Long story slightly shorter, we talked to him a minute and he said you NEED to visit Lisa. Well right then she pulled up in her car, and we all went in to talk to her. She hasn't been active for years but she had been telling her friend Andy the night before that she has been praying and knew that she needs to take the discussions again and she needs the gospel back in her life. "I was praying for the answers to my questions to show up on my porch, I knew I wouldn't be strong enough to go out and look for the answers." Welllll Tuesday morning we prayed that we somehow would be able to see the people that needed us. Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon, we're sitting in her living room and she was just crying because we told her how all our plans fell apart and we just picked her name to visit even though it was 10 minutes out of the way. #MIRACLES!!!!!! Good, good day.

And to end off the week, we got on the train at 6 this morning to ride over to Brighton Beach (my old stomping grounds in Moorabbin hey) and meet with all the East side sisters! It was sooooooo cold. But we got some mad pictures. So it's all goods.

And theeeeeere's the week folks! Love yous all!

(Even if you're not serving a mission at all, honestly) Take some time and look up "The Ricciardi Letter" by Danny Humphrey. It's a longie but a goodie. I've been having some struggles and one of my zone leaders suggested I study it. YOZA. #lifechanger

Sister Marlowe…Week #25
May 30,2017

Hey mommalouuuuuu! And Papa Marls!
What a week. It has been tough! I am exhausted. But I love the work no matter what. I think I have grown a lot closer with my Heavenly Father this week. He's my best mate :) Pretty good friend to have, hey? I'm learning a lot! Some spiritual, some not so spiritual. 1. Pick your battles. I think this applies to everyone everywhere. I'm hoping I'm getting better at this skill so I'm not the worst mom/wife ever hahahahah. 2. FEAR NO ONE. I mentioned the Ricciardi Letter in my group email. You will have to look it up and see if you can find it. If you can, send me a copy! I have one printed but I would love a copy to save on my USB so I don't ever lose it. You should totally read it! It is one of the greatest things I've ever read as a missionary. (I say "one of" the greatest because, well, scriptures)  We are in week 5 of the transfer! I'm interested to see what will happen with transfers. I always worry hahaha. A YW in our ward the other night said to her dad "Dad I can't just stop worrying. I have a female brain. That's what they're built to do. Hahahah I sympathize with her. But I love you!!!! Thank you so much for the package. Kirk and Beck came in the office just an hour before I got there! Crazy. I love this crazy awesome family of ours! Send pics of all the kids and you parents too! LOVE YOUS!
