Sister Marlowe...Week #
May 8, 2017
Hola, Como estas!
Jokes jokes, still english speaking my young cobbers
First off, I just wanted to start with something my mission president shared last week that I LOVED!! (Who am I kidding, I always love everything he says) At the mini MTC we had with the Braeside stake, he spoke, and he was talking about being successful as a missionary. Sometimes it can be hard to see success when people are rejecting us and things, but it says in Preach My Gospel that our success as missionaries is based on our COMMITMENT to share the gospel and bring people to baptism! He said "I love that definition, but I really love to simplify things to my own definitions. This is my definition of a successful missionary:
'THE SUCCESSFUL MISSIONARY IS WILLING TO DO THAT WHICH THE UNSUCCESSFUL MISSIONARY IS NOT WILLING TO DO.'"
I think this applies to all of us, no matter what we are. Businessman, student, athlete, parent, teacher, bishop.. ANYTHING! The only thing that will differentiate the successful from the unsuccessful is the willingness to do that which will bring success. Right????
Wowza.
In other news, WE GOT OUR GOLDEN THIS WEEK! So our golden is Sister Liutai from Sydney and she is coooool as! I am so excited to work with her! Ah I love her so much hahaha. I am now trying to learn Samoan AND tongan. Yoza. Ah my gosh. Talk about exhausting, keeping up with two poly goldens hahahha. They keep me on my toes. And I love them to death. They are both different, but they also get along really well! Which is good. It's actually hilarious because I'm just the little while girl in the companionship but they're actually both terrified of dogs, (my theory is that if God wants to protect me he will, and if it's meant to be that I get mauled to death by a little dog, that I will die in the line of duty
), anyways, so I'm the tiny white one, but they still both hide behind me so I can protect them from the oh-so-scary dogs hahaha.
Thursday was awesome. We had a great train-the-trainers meeting, and WOW I walked away from there first of all, feeling like I have been being a pretty crappy trainer for Sis. Ete so far, but b) with a new resolve to help these two have the BEST EXPERIENCE in starting their missions! I was extremely blessed to have a trainer that gave me possibly the best two transfers I could have possibly asked for! I want to pass on the favor. President asked us as trainers to help him in an effort to change the culture of this mission. We are working to do so. Ah I love him. President Vidmar is wonderful and I feel very very privileged to be serving under the leadership of such a great mission president! We have a zone conference this week and I am so excited!!!!!!
I have learned a lot this week from my two "little" Polynesian daughters: It is so important to just smile. Anything can be fun if you make it! Testifying of the things we know is SOOO important! I am just about out of time, but I love all of you!!!!! have a great week! Can't wait to see my momma in a few short days :)))))
LOVE YOUS!!!

Also. Awhile back I mentioned how Malo means hi in Samoan. It means thank you in Tongan as well. I am now referred to as 'Mammalo'. It's fantastic.
